ziddey Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I've slipstreamed many times from my dell xp pro sp1a disc. I'm currently trying with sp3, but it's rejecting the key (same xjm6q... key that's on the original disc that worked with sp2). I checked the setupp.ini and it's still oem like it should be. Used the latest version of nlite on a win7 machine. Is there any way to get it to proceed setup? It's for a temporary hard drive while the main is rma'ed, so if it only lasts 14 days, it should be fine.I don't believe pro/vlk would work since the pid is still for oem.Is there an updated dell oem key for xp pro that works with sp3?
g-force Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 On which OS you are running nLite? There are still problems mit the Key if you are running nLite under Vista (or Win7) and slipstream SP3.
Blindsay Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 wow oddly enough this is the exact same problem im having! So the general concensus is i should only make an xp slipsteam from and xp machine, because currently i was building my xp slipstream off of my vista machine? If thats the case is it ok to at least build a xp 32 bit slipsteam off of a 64 bit xp machine?
ziddey Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 I don't know. I just made another slipstream with xp, almost identically to last time, except this time I didn't include ryanvm's wga package. Not sure if it's needed with sp3 anyway? Haven't tried yet though.
johnhc Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Blindsay, I think running nLite under XP x64 to build an SP3 XP ISO should work. Please give it a try and let us know. I hope you are using a virtual system such as VirtualPC, VirtualBox or VMware Server - all free. If you have trouble under XP x64, try running nLite in XP Compatibility Mode (nLite.exe, Properties, Compatibility tab). Enjoy, John.
Blindsay Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Got a step in the right direction, took all the automated stuff ok, language settings, cd key etc. but when i get to my desktop i see sp3 was installed corectly, but my dotnetfx.exe didnt load at all, i tried putting it under the fixes/updates section, should i be using it under the runonce command instead?Speaking of runonce i have a list of 3 things currently, flash, adobe reader, and java and flash being the first item on the list installed ok but the other 2 items did not. this is what i have currently%SOURCE%\install_flash_player_10_active_x.exe /s%SOURCE\AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe /sAll /rs /l /msi"/qb-! /norestart ALLUSERS=1 EULA_ACCEPT=YES SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES"%SOURCE\jre-6u12-windows-i586-p-s.exe [/L<1033>] /s /v/qn" [iEXPLORER=1][iNSTALLDIR=<drive>:\<install_path>] [REBOOT=Suppress]"i found those out on the web so i have no clue if they are correct, i just want my flash, adobe reader, and java to all install silently and without any user inputthat and i want to load all of the current post sp3 windows updates into it, but i cant even get dot net framework to go
johnhc Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Blindsay, I don't know where you got those switches, but they look bogus to me. Here is a great guide for this process, with many programs with switches that work. It is for XP x64, but is applicable. Kurt_Aust calls only a batch file from RunOnce and it does all the installs. You will see .NET in the .bat. You cannot put it in the Hot Fix area of nLite. Enjoy, John.

Enjoy, John.Ok so i wrote my batch file and tested it, it works great. the only problem i see is that the dot net package is huge thus pushing it over the 700Mb limit of my CD, any way around that? (cant use a DVD) or will i just have to keep that seperate
johnhc Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Blindsay, I am aware of no way around that. I use a DVD and my full up ISO is more than 2.5 GB. I suggest an optical burner for both CDs and DVDs. Where I am (US) you can probably get one for less than $20. Newegg has a bunch between $20 and $25. Sorry, John.

johnhc Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Blindsay, optical drives are not that hard to remove/install, drivers are in Windows. You might install your DVD drive in your old machine until your install is complete. Enjoy, John.
