AGlobalThreatsK Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 (edited) I have been using nlite for over 6 months and have made many updated disks.About a week ago I made an nlite disk with incorporated drivers for my laptop. I changed a couple things and changed the user name and auto logon name since it was for my own computer.Today I made many more changes and changed the user name BACK to what it was before "User" for the name and auto-logon. I ran the disk on a computer and everything is fine except its trying to logon as Craig which is the old name I used when I made the disk a week ago. I type in User instead of Craig, press enter, and it logs me in. Then I go into control userpasswords2 and according to that there is no Craig, and it is set to auto-logon "User". I tossed the disk in the trash and loaded up nlite again and went through all the settings and everything is correct. The name Craig is not anywhere, everything has been set back to "User". So I burned another disk, tried again, and am still having the same problem.Im gonna incorporate a lot of hot fixes too since I'm messing with the nlite install more, but I definitely need to have this little problem fixed so I can at least use this my nlite xp without any errors.Help! johnhc Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 AGlobalThreatsK, it sounds like you are running nLite more than once on the same source. Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. I think you could also benefit from a virtual system such as VirtualPC, VirtualBox or VMware Server - all free. Enjoy, John.

I've never had a problem until now.If I start from scratch, that means I have to go through ALLLLLLLLLL the options I've changed and put everything back in................I've used VirtualPC before but don't really like it, was already planning on trying VirtualBox next if I needed to, but lately I've just been setting up dual boot computers.

I copied my CD files/folders to a folder on my HDD and before I start an nLite session, I copy from this folder to a working folder. This assures that I don't have any left over stuff like login names. I suspect you ran nLite against an already nLited source and that is what caused your symptoms. How else would the old name be still there? Here is my admonition once again: Please make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.

You test your ISO, preferably on a VM, to make sure it works as you desire and contains the things you put in. However a VM will not test drivers. You can look in a folder after install (C:\Windows\NLDRV) and it will contain all drivers integrated. The NLDRV folder will be in your I386 folder after running nLite. In the Last Session.ini you posted, you included no drivers or hot fixes. Please attach your latest Last Session.ini. I just noticed you are running version 1.4.7 of nLite. Please upgrade to 1.4.9.1, the latest. Enjoy, John.
AGlobalThreatsK Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 Yes it is a fresh source. It's Xp with Sp0 and nothing installed. I have not been using the previous nlite disks to continue installation. I have just been loading the last session.ini on startup, that's it.I redid everything and made a new disk. I noticed the option to hide the displays that say "Logging on, saving settings, logging off, shutting down, etc."How do I make a computer do this if xp is already installed?
iamtheky Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 you can reshack winlogon.exe at least for modifying those strings. I do not know if removing the text removes the dialog box, but I am sure you could color one transparent in paint.net and replace it.
