Slipstreaming with an SP2 source folder

I have an SP2 source disk I am using to create a restage disk because I do not have any other versions of XP. Is there a way to use this file to create an SP3 slipstream? I have tried using the SP2 source and slipstreaming SP3 with the "remove previous hotfixes and service packs" option and it still doesn't work. I also tried not removing previous service packs and hotfixes and that does not work either. I keep coming up with missing files when windows is loading files right after the NTFS format to install.

if thats the only modification whats wrong with good old "KB######.exe /integrate. Even if it fails at least you get a descript error to google.

Nlite is fantastic, but you're using a hammer to drive a thumb screw, imho.

It's a Dell Sp2 source disk with a few OEM programs on it. But the files that come up missing are cards.dll (solitaire) and about 30 or 40 other dlls and program files. If I slip stream everything else except the SP3 it works fine. Hotfixes, OK. KBXXX updates, OK. It is purely the SP3 update

what happens if you copy the i386 folder off the disc and immediately attempt to manually integrate sp3?

what hotfixes are you slipstreaming prior to having success with the service pack?

you should only have the kbs that have come out after sp3, and you should really be slipping those after sp3 is present.

You can always remove the referenced files from dosnet.inf and txtsetup.sif files to complete the load without error, whether or not you actually needed that file......

I did not figure out the problem, but I found a source i386 folder that my predecessor stashed in the dark reaches of this terabyte drive and everything works. It is an Sp2 source, too. I found that interesting. But thank everyone for their help.
