paul_f Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I used my Dell SP2 cd with nlite, and added on SP3 and RyanVM Windows XP Post-SP3 Update PackWhen I try and use Microsoft update from IE6, I get the error 0x800A0046I have tried all the things on this page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883821 and on a few other microsoft kb pages but still no luck.Anybody got any ideas at to what could cause it and how I could fix it.ThanksPaul
johnhc Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 paul_f, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.
paul_f Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 HI there, thansk for the reply.I added on the SP and the hotfix pack, maybe thats what caused the problem.Attached is my last session.ini fileThanksPaulLAST_SESSION.INI
cluberti Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Considering that error code maps to an Access Denied error, perhaps running process monitor whilst attempting the update will show you where the error is coming from?
johnhc Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 cluberti, please tell us how to use process monitor to diagnose the WUD attempt. Thanks, John.paul_f, I see nothing in your Last Session that concerns me. Adding SP3 and updates to a CD issued with SP2 should be OK. Most running XP are using IE7. Does your update pack have IE7 updates? There have been some problems with recovery disks. Please try cutting an ISO from just the source CD and no changes. You can just select 'Create bootable ISO' in nLite. Let us know if that works. Enjoy, John.
paul_f Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 Hi John,I'll give that a go! I thought adding SP3 and the update pack would save me time, in fact it has taken far longer
