malcy_j Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 So what's happening is this.I get through to the i386 folder, then make the necessary changes, and then explore, modify the winnt.sif file, all good so far. This is what I did for my WinXP ISO too, and that worked.BUT when Win2k3 server goes through the initial stages it keeps requesting of me, the old Win2K server or NT 4.0 CD Rom to prove upgrade ability. But this is all being done from brand spanking, not Upgrade only source files.Help?Cheers,Malc.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 If your sure you've got a FULL Win2k3 CD then you have modified a wrong file. (I have no clue which one since you did not provide a list of all modified files)Chances are though you've been sold the wrong CD...WAIT:then explore, modify the winnt.sif fileAre you using someone elses setup?
johnhc Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 malcy_j, are you using nLite? If so, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Awwwwww dang I'm sorry about the last part I failed to notice we are in the nLite section...
malcy_j Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 Hey guys, yip, nLite.And I'll just add that session thing in now. What I am trying to achieve (MCT by the way) is to produce a sysprepped ISO image for a colleague who is on leave at the mo. He is training a VMWare course next week, and it requires a client and server ISO image, all ready to go. This is the file. Sorry but yesterday was my first time playing with nLite.[Main]Env = 1.4.9.1 - 2.0.50727.1434.Microsoft Windows NT 6.0.6001 Service Pack 1Target = Windows Server 2003, Standard SP0 - 5.2.3790.0 - English (United States)[Tasks]Remove ComponentsUnattended SetupIntegrate DriversHotfixes and Update PacksTweaksCreate a Bootable ISOOptions[Components];# Compatibility #[KeepFiles]msconfig.exe[RemoveFiles]clock.aviyahoo.bmpswtchbrd.bmp[Options]ProfilesDir = "%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings"TargetPath = "WINDOWS"temp_dir = %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp[Patches][services2][Tweaks][unattended]UnattendMode = 1DisableOemComputerType = AutomaticMaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk = 12RestorePointLife = 30DesktopTheme = Default||PerSeatAutoUDay = 5AutoUHour = 15ProgFilesPath = "\Program Files"[NetAdapter1]connname = ""macaddress = ""ipaddress = "192.168.0.1"subnetmask = "255.255.255.0"defaultgateway = ""dnsserver1 = ""dnsserver2 = ""winsserver = ""netbiossetting = "0"ipxnetworknumber = "00000000"ipxnetworkframetype = "0xFF"[GuiRunOnce][Drivers][Hotfixes]
johnhc Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 malcy_j, I see that you are running nLite under Vista. This is probably not going to work for Win2k3. If you are slipstreaming an SP, you will VERY likely need to do it under the same OS as your source. You may be able to do other work under a different OS if you use compatibility mode. What winnt.sif changes are you making? In the future, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Enjoy, John.
malcy_j Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 Sorry bout the fella. (just spotted the attach bit....)Yeah, no changes at this stage, I just wanted the bugger to work. But it has failed. I take on board what you're saying about Vista, and it's 64bit too, so no real idea there to be honest.Back to drawing board I think. Will trawl about in MCT site to see if there is anything (though I think we've been through that to no avail.
