charliep8 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I just installed a new version of Windows XP Pro with all the updates on to my computer. I installed Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 SP6 Run-Time Redistribution Pack.exeas an afterthought. Now I am trying to run a Visual Basic script and I am getting the error:User Computer1\Administrator does not have enough privileges to run ...I AM an Administrator on Windows XP Pro. Could I have possibly turned off some service or some how limited Administrator privileges to have this happen? Please help.
charliep8 Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 I just found the problem! There was something wrong with my installation of Visual Basic. I downloaded the latest VB6 from Microsoft here:http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/a...B290887-X86.exeInstalled it, and voila! I can now run Visual Basic.Still, my installation of Microsoft Office is not working so hot, but that's another topic.
CoffeeFiend Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) vbscripts don't need a VB runtime to work. All it requires is the windows scripting host, and XP already ships with it (v5.6, but latest vers is 5.7 -- which is already included in SP3). Edited January 7, 2009 by crahak
