maussimo010 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I apologize in advance if I am taking valuable resources to answer a simple question...Here we go...I am downgrading from Vista to XP for a friend if mine on a new laptop he has bought for work.It is a Compaq CQ 50-139WMCompaq does not offer XP drivers for the laptop on their website, but I found a guy online who compiled a set of drivers for this particular model laptop.Included in the drivers is a note which says:-------------===== INSTRUCTIONS =====----------------** Prerequisite: Because the CQ50-139WM uses a ICH9M AHCI SATA controller, you must first load these drivers by pressing F6 at the beginning of the Windows XP installation, and loading the files manually. If you fail to do this, the Windows XP installation will die with a BSOD. The nessary drivers are found in the f6flpy32_85 folder, found on this CDROM. Copy these files to a diskette, or slipstream them into your windows installation using Nlite before proceeding. After this step, windows installation should proceed normally. After windows is finished installing, install the device drivers in the following steps:1 - Install the chipset software located in: Drivers\IntelChipsetSoftware2 - Install the video driver, located in: Drivers\Video3 - Install .NET framework 2.0, located at: Drivers\Audio\dotnetfx.exe (this is a prerequisite for the audio driver)4 - MANUALLY install the audio driver by following the instructions at: Drivers\Audio\manual_install_XP_driver.txt The drivers when you're following these steps are located in Drivers\Audio\ConexantHDAudio_221_XP5 - Install the Synaptics touchpad software, located in: Drivers\Touchpad6 - Install the Realtek Ethernet driver for the wired LAN, located in: Drivers\Network\Wired7 - Install the Atheros Wifi driver for wirless LAN, located in: Drivers\Network\Wireless8 - Install the modem driver, located in: Drivers\Modem9 - Install the HP Quicklaunch buttons driver, located in: Drivers\HP_QuickLaunch_Buttonsmy problem is, I do not know WHERE in the nlite setup for my XP disc do I insert the ICH9M AHCI SATA controller so that the install will proceed properly...is it considered a driver? does it need to go somewhere else in order to work properly?thanks in advance, any and all help is appreciated!By the way, if anyone else has this particular laptop and needs the drivers for it, contact me and i'll get them to youScott
maussimo010 Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 I know that my problem has also been issued here, and I did look at this guide:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=107504but it's just a bit over my head...so this controller WILL slipstream in properly and not give me any problems as long as I put it in the right place in nlite?

johnhc Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 maussimo010, have you been successful in installing your text mode (F6) drivers? If so, let us know, if not, come back and ask a specific question(s) and attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Enjoy, John.
