Laptop LCD Brightness

Using my newly vLite'd vista install, I found out that I cannot adjust my LCD's brightness. Do you think this is due to vLite, or maybe new ATI drivers (catalyst 8.12)? I've never had a problem with it before using stock vista (and older ATI drivers), or in Linux.

Some more details: Laptop is an Asus F3Sa, I installed ATK ACPI driver from their website as well as hotkey program. Pressing the hotkey has no effect (the usual OSD from the hotkey program doesn't even come up), and neither does adjusting the brightness in the Vista power control place configuration thing.
