hello... i was wondering if anybody knows how to find the two components that are needed in the folder winsxs in order to have win update working...

i know that in the 32 bit version the components are

WINDOWS\winsxs\Backup\x86_microsoft-windows-w..ient-core.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_7.0.6001.18000_en-us_f5c746b56919d1c7.manifest
WINDOWS\winsxs\Backup\x86_microsoft-windows-w..ient-core.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_7.0.6001.18000_en-us_f5c746b56919d1c7_wuaueng.dll.mui_297f975d

But what about the x64 ???

no, the backup folder is the Windows File Protection you know from WinXP. In Vista it is called Windows Resource Protection. You need the whole WinSxS folder, because updates come as deltas. The Trustedinstaller creates the new Vista files with the help of the DPX (Delta Package Extractor) from the files stored inside the WinSxS folder.

How do you select to keep those files with vlite and still remove winsxs ?
