AcePL Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 It`s my first visit here, so i should say: hello My personalized version of win xp seems to be working fine, but i have two small problems:1) Installer says, that it can`t copy merlin.acs file - it is unnecessary - I can hit esc and everything goes well.2) I`m going to buy new pc, with sata2 HDD. If I`m not wrong - I should install sata driver provided from motherboard manufacturer. It is asus p5q pro, so should I download this file: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/sata...060_XPVista.zip (from http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx - type p5q in the box on the left), and select mv61xx.inf as the driver to add?
johnhc Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Welcome, AcePL, but we are all wondering what you are doing. What are you doing, installing or running nLite? What installer says "can`t copy merlin.acs file "? If you are buying a new PC, why do you need drivers? What OS are you talking about? I looked at the driver file you referenced and could not much sense of it. If you are going to create an ISO using nLite to install on your new computer, then you need all the drivers for your hardware as well as text mode (also called F6) drivers for your SATA/RAID. So, let us know what you are doing and we'll try to help, but please read the nLite guides and look through this forum for a while first. Enjoy, John.
AcePL Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 Argh, sorry. I`m a bit tired today.I`m talking about a Windows XP installation cd made with nLite.I need those drivers integrated on my cd, because I don`t own a floppy drive
johnhc Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 (edited) AcePL, I still don't know what the installer error (merlin.acs) is about. Was this during install of XP? Do you have this file (may be MERLIN.AC_) in the i386 folder of your original CD and/or in your nLite prepared files. I suspect you have run nLite more than one against the same source. Always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders and do all your work in one nLite session and only apply one SP. Please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini. You really need to do a better job of explaining what you are doing, with what and what/when errors occur - the more the better not less! Enjoy, John.Edit: I DLed the file you pointed to and extracted it and then extracted (using 7-Zip) the drvSetup.exe file and got the attached files out of the $[31] folder. This does look like the text mode driver files. The txtsetup.oem is the secret but point to the right .inf. John. Edited December 13, 2008 by johnhc
AcePL Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 (edited) Thanks for your patience. So, lets start with merlin.acs. File is present in both (fresh & modified) CDs. I will try to prepare another image with personalized settings. I`ll post the results soon.Second thing - the driver. So, it MAY mean, that i`ve selected the correct file (mv61xx.inf). Hope it will work POPRZEDNIA_SESJA.INI Edited December 13, 2008 by AcePL
johnhc Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 AcePL, the LastSession.ini looks OK, even though there are many things I can't read. Since the file was there, then I suspect you do not have the text mode drivers integrated properly. When nLite is processing the folder, you should get a message asking which one to use and after you respond, the Mode will show TXT - xxxxx. Another possibility is a CD error. If the error repeats, try burning your CD at a slower speed (2x or so). Enjoy, John
AcePL Posted December 14, 2008 Author Posted December 14, 2008 Ok, I have compiled the cd one more time, now the file is copying correctly from the installation cd. First problem sloved.Drivers section of my compilation looks like this:So everything SEEMS TO be ok... I will get sure while installing it on my new pc
