LG LCDVRW055 Internal DVD+/-RW Drive any good?

I'm gonna but this drive and jsut want to know some things.

Is it a good drive? anyone had probs with it?

It can write to both dvd-/+ rw and dvd ram. what the difference between rw and ram?

Is quality Scalable? What I mean is a dvd holds about 2hrs of video. Can it do the same as a vhs - like reduce the quality and fit more video on it? So I could get like 3hrs on a dvd?
