Error during windows 98se installation

After the logo screen of windows 98se 'running windows for the first time'

there came an error stating

"The DOS is not compatible with the operating system installed"

Help is needed,

I used nlite on it.But only patches were inserted.

Any solution?

nlite are you sure? nlite is NT only,

you havent been trying to do soemting with 98se and PC DOS or is it completely standard install

as in format C:

copy cabs to C: and then setup /is or something similar
