I like to go change settings in my Vista installation. I turn off all animations but keep thumbnails and backround images in folders, I enable check boxes for selection..etc.

Well, it seems I've gone and done something and now the desktop nor windows exploer will not refresh whenever I make a change. For example, I just downloaded a file to zip fiddle with, when I extraced it to a subdirectory, instead of the desktop automatically refreshing and showing me the folder that was created when I extracted the file, I have to go press F5. It's getting rather annoying. What did I change and how do I fix it? Any ideas?
