  1. I have an HP 2730p Tablet with an HP OFficejet 7310 printer. I've installed Windows 7 on it. This morning I come to find my printer won't print. I select print in any app and nothing happens. No activity in the que. So I try to print a test page and I receive "Test page failed to print. Would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance. Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000007a). Now my printer works. Other networked computers print to it, and the 2730p printed to it in Vista. As a matter of fact, the HP own diagnostic page and alignment functions print and work. OK. I restart spooler and tried direct printing. Nothing. I deleted all the printer drivers in printmanagement.msc nothing. I deleted all the files in the spool folder in system32. Nothing. The spool service starts and stops with no errors. The printer will install with HP's installation program. It won't print. If I install the printer with Windows 7's Add a Printer I receive. Also, when I tried to use the Windows Troubleshooter I find it fails too. "A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting. Package ID: DeviceCenterDiagnostic. Path: Non-local Package. Error Code: 0x800703EE. ...." I'm out of options. Any advice? I suspect all these problems are related. They have the smell of a permissions error but I don't know what or how to diagnose any more.
  2. Yeah, I've got ultramon. It helps alot with dual monitors. What I'm looking for is righe click the desktop, and get a programs menu.
  3. I like to go change settings in my Vista installation. I turn off all animations but keep thumbnails and backround images in folders, I enable check boxes for selection..etc. Well, it seems I've gone and done something and now the desktop nor windows exploer will not refresh whenever I make a change. For example, I just downloaded a file to zip fiddle with, when I extraced it to a subdirectory, instead of the desktop automatically refreshing and showing me the folder that was created when I extracted the file, I have to go press F5. It's getting rather annoying. What did I change and how do I fix it? Any ideas?
  4. I just got a new tablet - a Toshiba M700. It seems I now have a tablet that has the horcepower to replace my desktop as my primary computer, which is an aging 2.8ghz HT P4. I hope it lasts long. Anyhow, I've run two 21" CRTs. I have been running Linux, and one of the features I've come to love is a programs menu when I right click the desktop. It allows me to be working on one monitor and open an app on that monitor rather than going over to the other monitor, opening it there and moving it over. Kind of like the menu that is in the lower right of this screenshot. http://www.xfce.org/images/about/screenshots/4.4-3.png I would even be happy with a commonly used apps menu or a menu I create instead of a full one.
  5. (I posted this in the Unattended setup forum before I found this one..) Well, First off, Hello interesting line of possibilities opened up to me with the discovery of this program! I found this forum and read a little bit. Got interested, registered, searched though topics, downloaded nLite and begun to play. I integrated the service packs, and all the hotfixes. I even integrated my computers drivers. I installed my new slipstreamed windows and realized that I forgot a driver. I went go integrate it and nLite told me that it couldn’t integrate drivers because I already had integrated drivers. So I found this folder 'oemdir' and found that it had all my drivers in it, so I removed this folder and installed all the drivers again (except for a couple that I really don't need for example my Sony digicam). I went to install the new windows and lo and behold! I'm missing files.. All the files that are a part of the drivers I didn't install..hmmmm. How can I uninstall the reference to these? I found drvindx.ini which I think might be what I'm looking for to modify, but I've been down a similar road before So, a many CD's later and some time. I've tracked down the missing files.. Where do they go? I've put them all in the 'oemdir' directory, I've put them in their own subdirectorys (like the original extracted directory structure with the 'oemdir; directory as a root) I either want to uninstall these, or fix the problem, getting extremely frustrating..
