rokenford Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 after many an hour fiddling with things, i finally got through the entire process without error and made me an ISO of my install. i wanted to test the thing in a virtual machine before i tried to use it proper, and after a while i noticed an odd behavior. this install process has been running for a little over an hour now, and it seems that every time, after it completes installing network, it reboots and starts over at the installing devices.if i skipped something, or removed something i shouldnt have please let me know.here is the "last session" file if that helps you at all.LAST_SESSION.INI
Kelsenellenelvian Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Windows XP Professional SP3 - 5.1.2600.5508??Umm the final SP would look like so:Windows XP Professional SP3 - 5.1.2600.5512You for one have a beta SP.Are you working on a already modified source?
rokenford Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 (edited) its possible, but if it is, i was unaware of it. downloading proper SP3 for slipstream to see if that helps. Edited November 26, 2008 by rokenford
rokenford Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 well, slipstreaming the full SP3 in did not fix my problem. i'll put in the latest ini file, but nothing changed other than slipstreaming in SP3.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 (edited) Which virtual machine are you using? Also what is your bare source? SP? OEM? Edited November 26, 2008 by Kelsenellenelvian
johnhc Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 rokenford, I can't see it in your LastSession.ini, but if you disabled "Press any key...." in nLite Options, these are the symptoms you would see. Enjoy, John.
rokenford Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 i didnt. the only thing i changed on that tab was "delete duplicate files."source was a student edition of XP Pro.i have another copy of xp floating around. i'll give that one a go and see what happens.
johnhc Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 rokenford, I don't know what might be different about student version. Does your virtual system ask the "Press any key....' question when you boot the CD? If not perhaps that is how they are blocking students from installing it on multiple systems. What virtual system are you using (to repeat Kels question)?Enjoy, John.
rokenford Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 yes it does have the "Press any key..." prompt.and i'm using VMware workstation
johnhc Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 rokenford, what are the VM parameters - memory size, HDD size? Enjoy, John.
rokenford Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 8GB HDD2GB RAM Single Processorrunning the install from the ISO.
johnhc Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 rokenford,Kels asked you Are you working on a already modified source? and I think your reply was "it's possible". If this really happened, that could be the problem. Your VM parameters look great. Perhaps you could post a screen shot of your original CD files (Windows Explorer view).Enjoy, John.
