dme248422 Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Is it safe to remove MS .NET Framework, Visual C++ Redistributalbe 2005 & SQL Server 2005 from a home desktop/laptop running XP MCE & XP Pro respectively. Are these needed for other Windows/MS programs/ apps to function properly? Thanks

Many programs require these components, removing them would do more harm than good. SQL Server is used primarily in corporate environments, this can be safely removed.
spacesurfer Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I think certain programs install SQL Server also. It's probably there for a reason - maybe a program you installed. If you uninstall and a program stops working, you may have to reinstall it.
