acl03 Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 (edited) I recently made a custom ISO of a Windows Server 2003 Std SP2. I used the Windows Update Downloader to do a mass download of critical updates for windows server. I then slipstreamed all these updates into my windows CD, and also made some installation customizations using nLite.I successfully installed windows using this nLite-made ISO, but how do I verify that the security patches got installed? They do not show up in Add/Remove Programs (I didn't expect them to). I tried manually installing one of the updates that I slipstreamed, and it did not give me an "already installed" message, it let me install it as if it were not present. Is there any easy way to verify that the security updates were actually applied? Thanks.Andrew Edited October 17, 2008 by acl03
spacesurfer Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 search for and download "microsoft base security analyzer". It's a free tool by MS that will tell you if there are any updates your system is missing.if you don't want to install that, then use belarc advisor. It also does the same but it's a smaller download. and it gives you a lot more info about your pc as well in a report format.
mooms Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 (edited) belarc advisor is very good. There is also an other utility to know what security patches is missing,it did not requires any installation. It's Windows Vulnerability Scanner. If you just want to see what patches is installed, use windows update list . Edited October 17, 2008 by mooms
