Kennyyoli Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 (edited) I have a HP/Compaq 8710P business notebook downgraded to XP Pro from Vista Business . Install went fine and all drivers are installed, everything seems to be runnng normally. The only thing wrong is when I try and double click the C drive from the My Computer screen. Instead of opening and showing the contents of C , I get an error message ; "Windows cannot find "Info.exe" . Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button and then click search" . Any ideas on what may be causing this. I don't think it's a virus issue, because it was doing this before I connected to my home network & the internet. Any help would be much appreciated. Edited October 13, 2008 by Kennyyoli
Kennyyoli Posted October 13, 2008 Author Posted October 13, 2008 I forgot to add that when I right click on the C drive, I am able to open and explore it from the menu with no problem. It only gives the error message when I double click .
PC_LOAD_LETTER Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 my guess is you have a file named 'autorun.inf' on your c: drive that explorer is trying to execute instead of displaying the files. remove it and c: should open OK
