LeCoop Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 I have a Sony VAIO AR21s and was trying to attempt clean reload of XP without all the Sony guff, prior to upgrade to Vista Ultimate.Created a boot disk using nLite to include RAID driver necessary for XP to recognise Hard drive with SATA connectionAll goes well until hard drive is formatted & XP files installed, then XP reboots m/c ...perfectly normal up to that point, except that XP then begins to reinstall from scratch.I can't get it out of this loop ...any ideas? Also, have reformatted hard-drive as part of setup and now my original Sony Recovery disc will not recognise hard drive to reload original configuration.have also tried to load Vista, but activation key won't allow it to work until I have a valid XP system installed.
johnhc Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 LeCoop,Did you Disable the nLite Option-General 'Press any key..' Boot message? Enjoy, John.
LeCoop Posted October 11, 2008 Author Posted October 11, 2008 No, I didn't disable this feature, thought it would prevent initial boot sequence Will recreate disc on another PC & give it a try, thanks for the tip & will let you know how I get onCheers
johnhc Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 LeCoop,This option has been discussed in this forum. As I remember the problem is that during install, the machine will keep booting from the CD unless you yank the CD or go into the BIOS on the first reboot and change the boot order. Have you nLited your source more than once? You should always start with a fresh copy of the original CD's files/folders.Enjoy, John.
