kumarkumar
Since a few weeks, the USB removable disk icon and the speaker icon don't appear in my taskbar anymore when I start my PC. I have to goto control panel and then bring back the speaker icon, but for removable icon I don't even have that option. What to do?
Galt
I've got that same problem on 3 of my XP systems, though it's off and on. I use.... WinXP Manager v5.2.8http://www.yamicsoft.com/It will put the startup Icon's back using one of the options "system repair." A all-in-one utility to tweak, optimize, tweak, tune up and clean up your Windows XP or Vista, it bundles more than 30 different utilities in one and help your system faster and more stable, secure and personal! It's one of those I wouldn't do without in my utulity bag. I'm sure there are other programs or options, for the problem, but that one has far more to offer. Hope that helps. kumarkumar
The following worked.Goto Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs. On the left side Click Add/Remove Windows Components.Select Networking Services. Click on the Details button.Remove the checkmark for the UPnP User Interface, then click OK. Then click Next.Reboot.BTW, anyone knows where are the entries under Taskbar --> Properties --> Hide Inactive Icons --> Customize --> Past Items located? Some of the items are still there when I have uninstalled those programs long before.
