error when integrating IE7

Hello,

I am trying to make an XP Pro disc with the SP2 update as well as including IE7.

I had no problems when making the disc with just SP2 but would like to make one with IE7 but get an error when doing so.

The error states:

IE7-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe – this is not expected type of hotfix.. Please report this error if it’s unexpected.

I went to MS site and downloaded the IE7 for XP Service Pack 2 or later so I’m not sure why I got this error.

Any ideas?

Did you nLite your source more than once? You should always start with a fresh copy of the original CD files/folders. I DLed the update (IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe) and here is the size and MD5:

MD5 EA16789F6FC1D2523F704E8F9AFBE906

Size 14.7 MB (15,452,536 bytes)

Check these against yours - perhaps you got a bad DL.

I checked the size of the file and it is the same as what you have stated. However, I'm not sure where to check the "MD5 EA16789F6FC1D2523F704E8F9AFBE906" to see if that is the same. I went directly to the MS to download it.

I tried again with the same response.

My first attempt was to create a slipstream disc with both the SP2 and the IE7 - but when I got that error I decided to just try creating the disc with SP2 and nothing else - that went well. So I tried again only to have the same issue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I use HashTab to check the MD5. When the program is installed, it adds a tab to your properties for a file. Just do a Google on hash and you will see many calculators. HashTab seemed to be the easiest for me.

What exactly is your source disk? Retail, OEM, recovery or other? Please attach (not paste) your LastSession.ini.

My disc is an oem windows xp professional which has the sp1 on it.

I found 4 items listed in the last session all with the same date.

I'll attach them here for you to view.

I did try going and downloading the IE7 again and the same thing happens.

Why does your IE7 have two .exe levels on it? This must be your problem. Remove one .exe.

BTW, you should not attach your LastSession_u.ini files. I suggest you remove them if you can.

The reason that the IE7 download had 2 .exe levels on it was because the last time I tried to make the disc I highlighted the download just to make sure that it was correct and it did not show the .exe so I thought that perhaps that was the problem and added the .exe to it.

It didn't seem to make any difference that there was an additional .exe at the end because I got the same exact error message that I have gotten the last 4 times before that.

On the page for including the last session I do not select to include it with the slipstreaming (in fact I do not have the box checked at the bottom to load the last session on the page for the presets and I have also highlighted the items and selected to delete them -- I have never clicked on the button to load them.

I will give it one more try and let you know what happens this time.

okay, I'll download the hash tabs from http://xable.net/forums/viewtopic.php?id=20. Once I have installed it - exactly what do I do then to let you knw what the MD5 is for IE7?

After you install HashTab, right click on the hot fix file and select Properties. Go to the Hash tab and you will see the Hashes computed. You can paste the hash - EA16789F6FC1D2523F704E8F9AFBE906 - into the compare line toward the bottom and it will do the compare for you. You will get a green check or red x to the left of the compare line.

Do you have any kind of a DL manager or accelerator?

no I do not use any download manager. I did download the hash tabs from http://xable.net/forums/viewtopic.php?id=20

so I can just install that and follow the steps you have listed.

I extracted the hash tabs add ons that I found at http://xable.net/forums/viewtopic.php?id=20

but did not see any installer - just a dl_file, in_file & configurations setting file.

What exactly do I install?

Sorry, I have run out of suggestions except to attempt to contact nuhi (author of nLite). I suggest you send him a PM with a screen shot of your error and a link to this forum topic. Before you do, I suggest you check the MD5 for nLite also. Nuhi always includes it on his DL page. Please let me know what you learn.
