carbon6 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Hi, I wonder if any of you can shed a little light on a problem I seem to have with a remote desktop?I remotly access a laptop at home from my work PC using the built in windows remote desktop. Both PC's are running XP pro and are fully updated SP3 etc.The problem I have is that when I disconnect the session or it drops out for some reason the laptop will hibernate/sleep and I will be unable to reconnect to it for the remainder of the day...The laptop power settings are set so that it will never sleep or switch off the HDD when pluged in to the power outlet.Am i missing somthing here? Its starting to get annoying...Thanks in advance,C6.
IcemanND Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Check the power management settings for the NIC in the device manager.
carbon6 Posted September 18, 2008 Author Posted September 18, 2008 Thanks, I will check that out. Do those settings cause just the NIC to powerdown when not in use?The other setting seems to allow WOL which I dont use, but probably should.
