I have setup a sysprep image to setup several different Dell computers in our company. I used an optiplex 755 with an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT to create my image. The image works on my older equipment but when i use it to setup an optiplex 755 the graphic driver does not load correctly. it will only do 4 bit color and use a resolution of 640 x 480. In the device manager the display adapter is marked as an ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO instead of XT. I have included the driver for the 2400 XT in the image and used Sysprep Driver Scanner to add the drivers to the appropriate registry key. This is my last step in completing my image, does anyone have any ideas? Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Thanks

Derek

I don't know anything about this but: What about trimming down the driver package to include only the driver of your card and only that, not giving possibility to error to windows selecting the correct one?

I thought about this, my problem with doing this though is it will limit some of the other hardware I can use. Thank you for the comment

Funny, we have the exact same type of workstations in our company.

My image has no problem with this. Are you keeping the two drivers in seperate folders? Are you using PortableDML? If so, don't. Also, are you using SysPrepDriverScanner? If you aren't, start using it.

Try that and see if it helps at all. I'd love your feedback as I haven't had the opportunity to try this on multiple occasions.

EDIT - Woops, read your whole post, ignore the spdrvscanner part.

Figured out my problem. In my image I have the news version of the Tight VNC client. This installs VNC video driver also. When I uninstalled the VNC video driver, the Radeon 2400 XT driver loaded properly.
