Kindovic Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Hi guys,I've a machine that can't map a network drive. There is not firewall installed on the machine. The Client for Microsoft Networks is also present. However, I've checked the services.msc and found out that some services are not being started. What are the required services to start so that I can map a network drive? Thanks
Idontwantspam Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Have you tried mapping it from both the command line and the explorer interface? net use Z: \\server\share\See if that works. If it does, there may be some problem with Windows Explorer. If not, then it's probably something else. Also, what services are and are not running?
Kindovic Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 tried using cmd but still can't map...anyone knows wat are the core services to map a drive??
Kindovic Posted August 29, 2008 Author Posted August 29, 2008 i can't go to services.msc because the computer is joined to a domain
Idontwantspam Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Um. Is it possible then that your domain admin disabled mapping network drives? Because it is a frequently used restriction which is easy to implement...
Kindovic Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 i don't think so as the other computers which are joined to the domain are able to map drive
Kindovic Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 btw, out of curiosity, how do i disable mapping of drives using the group policy?
