Services Need For Mapping Network Drive

Hi guys,

I've a machine that can't map a network drive. There is not firewall installed on the machine. The Client for Microsoft Networks is also present. However, I've checked the services.msc and found out that some services are not being started.

What are the required services to start so that I can map a network drive?

Have you tried mapping it from both the command line and the explorer interface?

net use Z: \\server\share\

See if that works. If it does, there may be some problem with Windows Explorer. If not, then it's probably something else.

Also, what services are and are not running?

tried using cmd but still can't map...

i can't go to services.msc because the computer is joined to a domain

Is it possible then that your domain admin disabled mapping network drives? Because it is a frequently used restriction which is easy to implement...

i don't think so as the other computers which are joined to the domain are able to map drive

btw, out of curiosity, how do i disable mapping of drives using the group policy?
