New to IIS and Internal websites, Please help get me going!

Featured Replies

Hi, I have never hosted my own website before. Im trying to do so in Win Serv 2003, in IIS. It seems like I can just create a site in the default website and go from there. Do I need to do anything in DNS to allow my users to type something like:

http://helpdesk

or

helpdesk

If they were to do it now, only the IP address of the server can display the webpage. Any help is appreciated, Ive had good luck on this site :)

For anyone else wondering the answer to this, the missing portion was setting up a domain and DNS to point to the IP.
