CharlyTheCat Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 (edited) I am trying to generate a new Vista-Installation-DVD with vLite. But 1.2rc und 1.1.6 are not able to generate the DVD. I always get an error.Copied 05856XSP.swm...05856XSP5.swm from Recovery-DVD to d:\source. Renamed to install.swm...install5.swm.Started vLite with d:\.vLite merges all swm-files to install.wim.Then vLite asks which operating system should be configured (WinRE Partition, Vista Partition). I choose Vista.Error: Error loading BOOT.WIM. Aborting..Net-Exception:System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Der Index lag außerhalb des Bereichs. Is there any chance to generate a OEM-Installation-DVD from the Toshiba-Recovery-DVD? I am using Vista (MSDN) at work. But I heard that the MSDN-DVD will not work with my Toshiba-OEM-Key. GreetingsMarkus Edited August 7, 2008 by CharlyTheCat
MagicAndre1981 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Use your MSDN DVD mit vLite and later copy the $OEM$ folder from your OEM DVD to your new vLite made DVD and create a new ISO. Now you have a new vLited OEM DVD
CharlyTheCat Posted August 8, 2008 Author Posted August 8, 2008 (edited) @MagicAndre1981: Thanks for your quick reply. But there is no $OEM$ folder on the Toshiba-Recovery-Disc. I used imagex to mount the generated install.wim. But could not find any folder named "$OEM$.I thing copying the OEM-Folder does not solve my problem. The reason why I am trying to generate an Vista-Installation Disc is that I want to exchange the windows-versions between my desktop and notebook. The desktop uses Windows XP (Full Version) and the Notebook came with Vista Home Premium (Toshiba OEM Recovery). Because Vista is very slow when using it on the notebook and I am building up a new Mediacenter-PC I want to exchange both licenses.Markus Edited August 8, 2008 by CharlyTheCat
MagicAndre1981 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 the OEM folder is located inside the sources folder. It contains the bitmaps for displaying the OEM logo and the file which is needed to auto activate OEM Versions.
nuhi Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 CharlyTheCat, message seems clear, you are missing boot.wim in the sources folder? Or it is having just one image in it, normal Vista has 2.You can replace boot.wim with your regular setup.Let me know how it goes.
tobiaur Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 (edited) Hi ThereI have the same problem as the initial poster.Merged the SWM files to 1 wim file. Then copied the boot.wim into the sources folder.Same problem:I get offered a "WinRe" Partition and a "Vista Partition"no matter which of the 2 I choose in the next step it reads "Erro Loading Boot.WIM. Aborting"Tried it several times and also copied the entire DVD and then the merged WIM file into the sources folder - no change at all.Nuhi - You mentioned that one could use the "normal setup" - what do you mean by that? Thanks a lot for writing this programme and for your help in the forums Tobiedit - I should add - vlite crashes after the problems with the WIM and windows gives me some kind of error message.
