New Word document opening with very old text

Whenever I create a new Word document, and open it - It opens up with an old document that was created about 6 months ago. There seems to be no way to open up a document as a blank document. Anyone have any ideas?

Could this text have been added to your template (either Normal.dot or a custom template)? If so, you need to delete the text from the template.

Or much easier, simply delete normal.dot. Word will recreate it.

Caution, however, if your normal.dot is customized for your needs, you'll lose the customizations. In which case, you can open normal.dot and delete the text in there as mentioned above.
