[solved] 3 issues - themes, display, and wireless

this is my first attempt at nlite. it went rather well, but i have a few issues i need some help with.

1. my graphics card is not recognized. i slipstreamed the driver but that didn't work (all my other drivers loaded OK). so i downloaded the installer and ran it, but nothing changed. i try to add the driver manually from Device Manager and it says the device is not recognized. the problem is that i have a widescreen display, and i can't choose any widescreen resolutions. the card is an nvidia geforce fx go 5200; the machine is a toshiba satellite p25 s507

2. i added an .msstyle file during the iso creation using the setup wizard, but my uxtheme.dll was not patched. i assumed this would happen automatically? i was able to patch it fine after the install. i couldn't find the .msstyle file in /windows/resources/themes so i had to download that as well.

3. my system tray is empty. that is a good thing for the most part, but one missing item bothers me - the wireless network icon. i went to Network Connections and i wasn't able to access my wireless settings there either. the nlite setup wizard i think added my (current) ip and other settings automatically because i was able to connect to the internet, but i use different wireless networks on occasion, and i need to access that. did i remove an item that i shouldn't have?

luckily this was only a test install inside virtualbox so i can start over easily. but i'd like to get these items sorted. beyond these issues, this is a fantastic piece of software! i managed to chop my install cd in half, and even though i was running my 'lite' xp in virtualbox on a system with just 512 ram, it was extremely quick.

many thanks to anyone who can help!

Two out of three of your problems boil down to one simple fact: A virtual machine only emulates one predefined set of hardware. It does not mirror what is actually on the host machine. VMs do not emulate wireless LAN cards. VMs most likely emulate an Intel video adapter; certainly not advanced hardware such as an nVidia 3D accelerator. VMs don't even emulate Bluetooth.

Regarding your msstyle issue: how exactly did you add it?

well that simplifies things, thank you.

as for the .msstyle issue... when i reached that part in the nlite setup wizard i first pointed to the .msstyle file that was sitting in /windows/resources/themes, but nlite said it wanted it to be in a separate folder, so i dropped it into a new folder elsewhere and selected it. it came up on the screen, and that was that. i hit 'next' and continued down the road.

~edit~

i think i was supposed to select a .theme file, not just an .msstyle file. i'll try this when i get home from work.

also, looking through the guide again, i see an option to patch the uxtheme.dll, but i do not remember seeing this while creating my iso last night. i'll have another go today and look more thoroughly...

thanks again for your help!
