oao Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Lenovo laptops have a recovery/rescue partition and do not come with OS discs. However, it is possible to get XP prof discs for something like $70. They are likely customized for their laptops, though. Is it possible to nLite those discs and is the result generic enough to install and run on any computer?Or is it safer to get a generic copy of XP Prof? Is it still available? Any idea how much it costs as an upgrade from Win2000?Thanks.
oao Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 Another question: What about the disc which upgrades from XP Home to XP Prof? It costs only about $30. Can it be nLited for a full Prof install CD?
oao Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 Well, I tried and it did not work.I created the first recovery disc, which has the I386 folder and other XP files on it. But when I point nLite to it, it does not recognize them.If anybody knows a way to work around this problem, pls let me know.
