Guardian_Tom Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Hi guys. I have few questions pertaining to reinstlling vista on a dell xps as I want to shrink down vista pemium for a qual boot with linux. I have a 160Gig hard drive which seems way to small to have a working dual boot as I need max 30Gig for the linux /root and about 100Gig for the home. I could possibly use the /home as a mount point for vista documents but have not tested that yet but it worked with XP. My problem is that vista is going to take up way to much space as the ms page recomended at least 40Gig for my version of vista thought the vista basic is only recomended at 20Gig. So do not need to shrink it to 4gig or anything like that but would like to see about 20 to 30gig with games. I am planing on dual booting with linux and vista will just be used for games and also some web dev stuff. Another thing I want to look into is what is a good way to reinstall as dells have back up partions which I may not need but also some small boot partitions. Thing here is I want it to work properly so keeping the small boot partion may be benificial. Xp is comfortable with about 20 gigs with software installed so somthing similar in vista may solve my hard drive space problems.
