mso
I wonder if anyone has had this scenario before. I need to join a Win 2003 server to an existing Win 2000 domain. My company have a Win 2000 Server Domain . I need have to join a new Win2k3 (as a member server not a DC) server in Domain Win2k.....Any help or pointers to useful resources gratefully appreciated. Richard_Sheath
There should be no issues. Just 'add' it to the domain the same way as a workstation is done. All it does is create an object in AD for the W2k3 member server the same as if it is a workstation.Just remember to move the AD object to somewhere different than in the 'Computers' container if you are using GPO's for Member Servers.Regards Edited May 27, 2008 by Richard_Sheath
viper01
You have to run the adprep utility - short for active directory preparation first. This utility is included on you Windows 2003 Server CD.
nmX.Memnoch
You have to run the adprep utilityNo you don't. You only have to do this if you're making the 2003 server a domain controller. If it's anything other than a domain controller adprep is not necessary.
cluberti
Adding a 2K3 server to a 2000 domain does NOT require adprep. You only need to run adprep if you're adding the 2003 box as a domain controller, which you are not.
