Will SP3 bloat an existing nLite SP2 install?

I have an Eee PC with an nLited XP Pro SP2 install. If I d/l SP3 from Windows Update will it install all the XP stuff I nLited out or just update whatever files it finds? Should I expect that post-SP3 I'll have less disk space? Thanks.

im a fellow E-PC user as well, as the service pack is designed to be installed in a vanilla system, there would probably be files added that were previously nlited. sad to say, to keep your little lappy clean, you could opt to make another nlited installer with sp3 slipstreamed.

It's not a good idea to install SP3 if you have removed components. However, if you just used nLite for tweaks and integrating patches then you should be fine.

I removed a lot of XP components, so I'll avoid running the SP3 updater.

Is the same thing basically true for any update from Windows Update?

from my experience, the non critical components i removed from nlite get reported as optional updates on the windows update site (examples of which are windows messenger, and the remote desktop connection). the hotfixes are quite different as they only put/replace files that are currently in the system or just add/modify the registry.

you could run the updater if you like and later delete the files in the software distribution in windows folder to reclaim some space.
