you can mount the WIM with imageX and load the offline registry hive with regedit and change the registry settings. After doing this, unload the software hive and commit the changes to the WIM.

If this is too complicated, you can use WPI to import the registry settings.

...and load the offline registry hive with regedit and change the registry settings.

Can you describe in detail how to do this?.Im planning on adding this to my guide :hello: .

mount the image to a folder, than start regedit and select File->Load Hive and select the software or system file under "mountdir\windows\system32\config\", now make the changes and unload the hive. Now unmount and commit the changes to the WIM.

Thanks.Much appreciated :) .One more question:do i have to start the regedit that is @ mountdir\windows or the one of the currently running host OS?.Also say i have several exported registry entries. Can i integrate them too?

1. you can use the regedit from your running OS.

2. what do you mean with your second question?

1.Load Hive is greyed out in Host OS...

2.Well i have several apps configured:WMP11,IE7 and so on.I have exported their settings from registry so that when i install a new os i simply doubleclick the exported entry and with few clicks it will be integrated into Host OS registry. So no need to change any setting after clean install.Would be extremely useful if i could integrate these entries offline so i would have WMP11 configured out-of-box :thumbup
