Ambassador Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 (edited) My XP search is broken. It won't search outside of C:\Documents and Settings, unless I specifically specify a directory. Is there someway to fix this?I am not using the Search Assistant (it is OFF); it uses the classic (2000) search instead. Edited April 16, 2008 by Ambassador

(waves)Open RegeditGo toHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ExplorerYou will see values forIncludeSubFoldersSearchHiddenSearchSlowFilesSearchSystemDirsSet them all to 1. Then either restart Explorer or reboot the computer. (One hopes the reg settings will stay)

It still only searches Documents and Settings, plus a handful of other folders.Example: I search WINNT (to see if it can find WINNT.BMP in the Windows directory):Results:Luckily I have Agent Ransack so this is only a minor issue.
