Windows starts blank!

i just restarted my windows vista ultimate and after the login nothing happens and just blank monitor.ctrl-alt-delete works and can logoff or restart but nothing else happens.also can see the task manager and seems like nothing have been loaded except for some basic windows services.

tried to start in safe-mode and track the problem but was the same result.

tried the "last known good config" but same.

last thing i done was that i uninstalled unlocker software in the noon and uninstalled one of my games before the restart.an strange thing is that the icons in login page are not there(the user icons i mean).

anyone can help please?

UPDATE: i checked the task manager and seems like that explorer.exe doesnt start so after starting it through "run" in the task manager everything loads.but still dont know what have caused this!

for those who might have came across the same issue i found a fix:

Try checking HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon, and see what the Shell value is set to (should be explorer.exe)

it appears to be some kind of a virus or malicious software and i have been using the windows with my KAV disabled for few days so it explains why...
