Partition not compatible with Windows XP

I am trying to make the transition from linux to Windows XP. When i put my installation disc and restart the computer, the installation goes about like normal until I have to choose partitions. I selected the partition, and it said that it was not compatible with Windows XP. Can anyone tell me how to ready it for XP?

and format the in FAT (FAT32) or NTFS. Thats it.

I wouldn't bother with FAT32. NTFS all the way, end of.
