DISCLAIMER: THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT WAREZ OR ANYTHING ILLEGAL. I AM SUGGESTING REPLICATING THE METHOD USED TO CREATE MICROXP WITH MY OWN COPY OF XP. DO NOT POST ANYTHING SUGGESTING ILLEGAL PROCUREMENT OF MICROSOFT'S INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY!!! I DON"T WANT THIS LOCKED.

Apologies for the all caps, but I felt I needed to make my point very clear.

So I am a mac user looking to redo my bookcamp/VMware installation of xp to be as efficient as possible. nLite offers a dizzying amount of customization, even with the excellent hints. What I need is 1) internet, 2)Games (including Steam), 3).NET development environment 4)CAD programs. Would I be better off experimenting with nLite until it fits my needs or trying to DUPLICATE someone else's version like MicroXP? I figure with my own tweaks could get a more customized system for my needs, but other people know more about how to slim down xp than I do, so it might be easier and better to duplicate someone else's config.

Does anyone know of a better configuration or guide to configuration than duplicating MicroXP?

For your sanity, use nLite.

Say you try to clone someone else's method for slimming down XP, and then discover you're missing something that games or CAD needs. With nLite, it's been in use so long by so many people that you're getting a known quantity. nLite comes with support in this forum and you have the benefit of many fellow users who might not be able to help you work out the kinks in someone else's non-nLite method.
