I want to use Vlite on a VISTA ultimate DVD to create an as light as possible VISTA that would only serve as HTPC running VISTA MCE or Mediaportal.

Can you give me some advice on what to strip and what not to strip?

If you do a search in this section and the Nlite section you will see dozens of threads almost exactly like this one.

The answer always boils down the same remove everything you want and test. If you forgot something then you need to do it all over again and then retest.

Doing this sort of thing is a very long process because you will almost assuredly forget something.
