WinXP English with MUI-German-AddOn: english updates or german ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

only to be sure:

I have a client with an english WinXP and a corporate MUI installation of german speech.

The updates which have to be installed, should be still english, right?

Or are now german updates possible too (e.g. SecurityFixes)?

Thanks,

B.Poller

OS updates should be in English, unless the OS itself is localized in German. A MUI doesn't change which updates to install (unless they're specifically targeting the MUI pack itself).

As i use Windows xpMCE native this topic here can't adress my goals...

BUT one question (a bit offtopic due to be asked in neighbour forum): How does work Vista with MUI (e.g. my UltimateDEU + LP_ENU)?

The vista binaries themselves are language neutral, so ALL languages are a MUI. Therefore, all Vista code updates are global (not language-specific). The Language packs are the .mui files that change the display, but again, hotfixes and updates that are not language pack updates are all language-neutral.
