windows desk top start (task bar)

Some how I clicked something and now my task bar (start bar) is twice as wide (from the bottom) and any new search ends up on the bottom line. I have tried many ways to make it normal size and lock it to no avail. Help! Roy

I'm not real good at this but I'll try. If you right click on the task bar you can set it to "lock the taskbar" it you unclick that you can change the size of the taskbar by positioning the mouse over it where it meets the desktop. Then you can relock it. You may have already tried it, if so someone else will surely know the answer
