vdiuser Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I'm trying to create a thin vista for vmware vdi deployment. I boot from my vlite created ISO, go through the install process then when it asks you to remove all CDs and reboot to continue install it blue screens shortly after the "getting ready to start vista for the first time" message.During the rebuilding phase I do get a Registry Load Error: Cannot find the file specified but you can click through it and it finishes the rebuild without further error. I've tried a couple of different builds with the same results.
nuhi Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 vLite v1.1 or v1.1.1?That registry load error was fixed in v1.1.1, happened only when ran from XP.
vdiuser Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 (edited) 1.1.1 and I am running it from XP. Just an annoyance or do you think it's the cause of the blue screen?attached are my presetsLast_Session.ini Edited February 15, 2008 by vdiuser
nuhi Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Tried your preset from the XP and there was no problem, unfortunately because I believe you.One thing is certain, that bsod is because of the registry load error. So if you see that error that ISO is unusable. In your case best would be to use vLite in the virtual machine, that way you can install any os you like, run vlite inside it, configure your ISO and reinstall for real.Test that ISO virtually as well.
vdiuser Posted February 19, 2008 Author Posted February 19, 2008 Thanks, I'll give that a try. The machine I tried to use it from is admittedly a mess. It's a XP install that I've used for many many many years and have since P2V'd it to run on my Power Mac....
