usbehci.sys is corrupted/dell oem slipstream sp2

Apoligies for beating a dead horse! I have seen this problem everywhere but no working solutions or explanations of the cause.

I have spent hours on this problem, and many more hours searching for a solution on the web. There are dozens of instances where others have had the same issue, but no one clear solution.

When attempting to slipstream sp2 into a dell oem xp home cd part# 3R350, the installation fails while loading the initial drivers with the error message "the file usbehci.sys is corrputed", and it it not possible to continue.

I have tried manual methods of slipstreaming and used nlite as well. I also tried to remove the usb hardware support in nlite. Before I completely give up and go another route, I have decided to register for this forum and submit this post.

Other then the desire to create a sanitary install cd out of my old non service packed one, one issue is that my new 500 gig drive is not recognized correctly by an xp cd prior to sp2. Prior cd's see it as a 130gig. I have had bad luck loading operating systems on hard drives that are not seen correctly, corruption, etc. Also I have files on a second partition on my 500 gig drive. This partition is also not seen by my original non sp cd.

thanks in advance for any help,

R.

Probably just needs PE header checksum.

Search for the modifype tool.

Then go to the i386 of that ISO.

Extract (not just rename) usbehci.sy_ in the same folder, delete usbehci.sy_, leave just usbehci.sys.

use modifype in that folder like:

modifype usbehci.sys -c

Remake ISO with nLite (just the ISO page).

If you confirm I can automate it for you in the next ver, this is not my mistake just to be clear.

I'm having the exactly same problem as rea30. I tried to solve it as nuhi advised but there was a problem. I'm a real newbie with this stuff so bear with me: First I extracted the usbehci.sys with 'expand' in command promt but then modifyPE couldn't "open the file". Step-by-step tuts or any help at all in fact would be appreciated. This problem really has frustrated me for a while now.

Wow, I've officially given up on trying to slipstream my dell XP pro disc. Nuhi, I tried your suggestion of using modifype and that worked...for that file. A few files later I got another corruption error. I did another global search where someone claimed slipstreaming sp2 to an oem disc was futile, but sp1 worked. No go there, either. Bombs out with the corruption error on vga.sys. Using modifype might finally get you through an install, if you're willing to do enough trial and error iterations to figure out how many files you have to repair. It would be interesting if someone was able to figure out just what it is about the oem disc that causes the hang-up. I got my hands on a retail xp pro disk that I slipstreamed with sp2 and it's working just fine. One simple observation I'll note is that when the disc content was copied to a working directory using nlite, the retail disc came up almost 100MB short of the oem (dell) disc.
