Error Message: Cannot access syssetup.dll

Hi,

I am trying to make a slipstreamed setup disk for Win XP Pro for my laptop using nLite. I cannot install Win XP Pro without installing my SATA drivers. nLite succesfully adds WinXP Pro, SP2, and my SATA drivers; however, when the program is saving to disk I get the following message:

Error

P-The process cannot access the file D:\XP_source\syssetup.dll because it is being used by another process.

The program then crashes.

D:\XP_source\ is the path to the installation file. D: is a second drive on my laptop, not the system drive, so there is no way the file is being used by any programs.

Any ideas how to fix this?

THanks,

Paul Romano

HP Pavilion dv8380, 2GB RAM, 2x120MB hard drives, currently running Win XP MCE SP2. I am trying to upgrade with an old copy of Win XP Pro SP1 Upgrade.

Please attach your preset and post a link to the drivers you used.

Also do you have any antivirus or similar protection programs installed?

Hi, Nuhi,

Below is the link to the AHCI SATA controller driver for my HP Pavilion:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32001-32500/sp32478.exe

It was found on the following web page:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...228〈=en

But I have to show my ignorance: I don't know what you mean by "preset."

And, yes, I have AVG antivirus, zonealarm firewall, and spysweeper installed.

Thank you very much for the reply.

OK, I went back to the program and have my last 'preset'

Sorry for the delay.

That driver link doesn't work so if you can send me that driver and "last session.ini" (not this last session_u.ini) to my email (you can find it on the welcome page of nlite or website-contact) that would be great.

Hi, again, Nuhi

Thanks again for your reply.

Before we go through all the info you requested on the last reply, let me say that I successfully installed WinXP SP2 with my SATA driver on my HP laptop.

I disabled my antivirus, firewall, and spyware programs and then I successfully made the .ISO file. After a bit of fooling around with Nero, I burned the disk and was able to install XP2. (A couple of discs were unbootable)

Overall, the install is working fine. I have one minor problem: There is an Unknown Device in Device Manager. I contacted HP Support to find out what the device is and where the driver is. (I am hoping that I don't have to slipstream the drive for it!)

Anyway, I guess that closes this thread. thanks for your help and for a great program.

Ok, good.

That unknown device can be for example Firewire and you removed the support. Can also be Smart Card when removed, LPT ports maybe...essentially the point is if you are not missing any functionality don't worry about it.
