IcemanND Posted February 5, 2008 Share Posted February 5, 2008 the format command does just that it formats the drive. While there is writable locations on the drive that are not affected by a format and this information could be stored a standard format does not do this. In the case of servers this information is normally stored in nvram on the drive but even then the process of formatting has to be done by a particular utility so that that information was written to the nvram.
