balinton Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Hi All... I am new here and def need some help getting my vista install working. Here is the Break down...Vista Enterprise Edition - VLInstalled all apps and configured settingsSetup the WAIK created Answer file ---- Absolutely lost from this point on... I am trying to semi automate my syspreped build as i did in XP with sysprep.infI want the machine to go through Minisetup and prompt for Computername and to join to Domain. All other settings i want to be silent. One how do i use WSIM? Since the machine hasnt been captured yet what image do i select in WSIM to build the answer file with. Also what importance does the .CLG file have to the image does it need to stay with it or is just for component configuration when building the answer file? I have tried building an answer file and i keep getting a failure at the specialize pass so i got rid of the Windows Shell setup Component from the specialize pass and now i get a cannot install on this hardware error. This is way different then XP and the Docs are useless.. If anyone can give me a hand i would be much appreciative! Thanks,Brandon
SKiNNiEH Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I think your issue is with "CopyProfile" set to true.Try removing that to see if that will resolve it for you.I have had this too when i precreated a whole setup with preinstalled apps that was sysprepped and then imaged. And I never got the profile to copy and i can safely say that i've tried all possible things to get it to work. There is one thing that i "think" is the reason for all these problems and that is: The installation was already MAK activated (i know it doesn't make sence, but that was the only difference with an older image). So I left the complete preinstalled image for an oldschool unattended approach that takes longer on installing all the apps on the fly, but does exactly what i want it to do.
