help needed - xp camera driver deleted?

Hey everyone! I'm having a bit of trouble, and as I'm not technologically savvy, I thought I'd turn here for some help.

So, here's the deal: I believe somehow my XP camera driver was deleted or messed up. (?).. When I plug in either my digital camera or webcamera to the USB drive, the computer makes the sound as if it recognizes something was plugged in, but then seconds later it makes a sound I haven't heard before: three little pulses, as if it's saying it can't read it.

I really don't know how better to explain this. I know XP is normally supposed to recognize camera devices plugged in without a problem. This has just been a recent thing, and I think it happened when I tried to install some other software for my fujifilm camera.

If you have a restore point to when you remember it working, I would try reverting back to that point before doing anything else. However, you could also try uninstalling and reinstalling the software (and drivers) that came with your camera as a start, as this fixes a lot of driver issues similar to the one you're experiencing as well.

check your device manager after connecting the camera and see if it is listed there or if it shows up as an unknown device.
