losing conrtol of widows XP

Hi - I'm not a computer wiz and need help with my computer. My defrag doesn't work anymore, i can't add a program from either my cd drive or DVD drive because it gives me an error messege of "RPC sever is missing or something and and iKernel.exe error. Also the links from the help menu no longer connect to help sites. It seems things are just gone or something and a lot of my programs don't work and i couldn't uninstall my Wordperfect suite either. Any ideas on what's wrong that i can try?

Give Dial-a-fix a try and be sure to use the Tools section to repair your defrag.
