speedy_69x Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Ok lets see if i can post this problem so you all can understand it.Ok I downloaded the Nlite v1.41 and the Service Pace SP2 IT version from Microsoft Website.and the RVMUpdatePack2.1.11 (hotfixes) I sould have everything to be ready to go ?Ok then I mafe Three Directories form Root Drive <SP2><XPCD><Updates>Ok Running Nlite and ask for the XPCD no problem copies the XPCD to the root drive DIR <XPCD> goodthen I hit next did not add anything to the next screen then ask for the service packthen I selected the service pack and it copies it to my other and verfies the extract of SP2 but instead of it extracting to the dir I mad <SP2it goes to G:\number and lettered directory that the SP2 extract to on its own I figured this would really not be and issueand when its done extracting Nlite just sits there on the screen saying its slipstreaming Ok so I wait and wait and wait ...... still waitingbut nothing is happening I cannot even select a thing on my desktop I cannot do any thing at all I do not get any errors no pop ups no warnings of any kind at all it just sits there on screen slipstreaming but I see no activity at all going on?? I let it run like this for severals hours but still cannot get to the next screen for the hotfixes. Also on the Nlite screen I'm only selecting the SP2, hotfixes, Bootable CD nothing else. The only way I can get out of it is to reset the system -> which is really not a good idea.. this is farily a new machine and is completely updated with all the MS updates and patcches etc ... latest Video drivers, DirectX latest intel 2.8Ghz 1.5 gig ram 250 HD plenty of room. Is there something alse that is need to get the sP2 pack to intergrate into the <XPCD> to move on o add the Hotfixes and finish up. I have tried this same method and still does not work its as if NLite hangs but logs say it did did not. I would really like to do this to make a new XPCD. Ok so hopefully someone can help me out.Nlite came form there websiteSP2 came from MS websiteHotFixes came from RyanVM websiteAny one out there help me out??....peacespeedy
nuhi Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 First report of this kind. That temporary numbered folder for extraction is normal.Make sure to use a clean, original XP, meaning not previously tampered in any way. It can contain SP1 if that was the only thing added to it (or preintegrated).Does nLite ask you to clean the previously integrated hotfixes? This can happen with some OEM CDs.Do you have some process protection programs which may have blocked it? (usually part of newer Firewalls)Also try to disable resident antivirus protection if present. And compare copied folder on the hdd with the CD to see if they are really identical, maybe even try copying the CD to some new folder on HDD by hand then just browse with nLite to that new folder.Be sure not to use networked paths, keep all files on current machine for now at least.Let me know how it goes.
speedy_69x Posted February 2, 2008 Author Posted February 2, 2008 Ok the Extracted Number thing ok thanksAs far as a clean install (no) I have all of XP Pro patched updated drivers SP2 (only) etc ... etc ...No nLite does not ask me to clean the previously integrated hotfixes (nothing happens @ all). just sits there after the extracted SP2 files on the slipstream of nlite's menu.As far having some process protection programs which may have blocked it not really sure I've looked but really not sure which one(s) could beblocking the nlite's process of integrating the SP2 into WinXPPro CD??I have not tried disabled resident antivirus protection. As far as the XP Pro CD I let nlite copy the xp cd, I have done it manualy c:\WinXP << contents of OS CD here>I mad a directory on c:drive C:\SP2 and c:\updatehotfixes I even tried doing the command line thing without nlite and itstill hangs @ the integrate to the winxp pro cd C:\WinXPcommand used was c:\SP2\servicepackname /integrate:c:\WinXP extract files ok but still goes no further ??not using any networked paths everything is done from the C:\root of driveI have 2 machines one is XPPRO and the other is XPHome I put the nlite on the XPhome and the service pack and hotfixes keeping same structure as on the XPPro and the darn thing worked ok on my XPHome machine. But cannot get it to do it on the XPPRO machine. And the XPHome machine has everthing patched all hotfixes drivers etc ... etc and resident virus scanner same one avast and it woeked on that machine XPhome.I'm thinking that something on my XPPro machine is running something in background or something not really sure gonna turn of the avast temporarilyand see if tht is it not sure what could be blocing it from running.Too bad I can't copy the XPPro cd to my XPHome machine and create from there but I thinking it would have to be done from the same os WINXP PRO / WINXP HOME or can I? Also on my machine XPPRO I ran the SFC and that was ok no problems there no winxp pro files modified or anything and still will not run.well gonna go try some more things and see if I can get it to work? Also If I can find it I will post it up if I do find the issue that is causing not to run Nlite hanging issue or something in compatible with it running in background not sure. hopefully someone could shed some more light on this problem if someone else is having the same or similar issue??thanks for your help let me know... peace speedy
