petson Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Hi !Found this forum while trying to find my answer 'googlin'.Now to the problem.I'v got a 30/30Mbit connection thats solidf(fiber). When I do a speedtest with Windows XP I get 29/29 (TCP speed), nothing wrong with that. But if I'l do the same test with vista I get 29Mbit/s download and 9~20Mbit/s upload.I'v tried all the suggestions with 'netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable' and ctcp etc. Nothing will do it.Worth mentioning: Got slightly better results with Vista SP1, but it's still choppy as _hell_Thanks in advance !
nitroshift Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Do you have the TCP/IP v.6 enabled by any chance?

petson Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 (edited) First, my English isn't 100% so please don't complain.Fixed the problem, strangest thing ever !My homenetwork looked like this:Clients -> switch(es) -> firewall (Linux with Iptables) -> Mediaconverter , nothing strange with that I guess.About 3-4 weeks ago I Installed Vista Ultimate x64 and EXACTLY the same day my ISP swaped the mediaconverter and told me that everything was OK.Booted up Vista and everything went great 'cept TCP upload speed. Tried on my brothers PC (he has XP) and ofcourse he gets great results. Must be Vista i thought because I'v read that others got the same issue I got.So today I reinstalled to XP and WHAT THE F*CK (sorry), same got **** problem as with Vista. Now I was really confused and I started to change cables and move some switches (again), nothing happend. The only thing that differs my computer from my brothers is he got INTEL Motherboard with MarvellYoukon Gbit NIC and I got Gigabyte Motherboard with RealTek Gbit NIC. Started to do some research but didn't find a thing. Then I moved the firewall to the same switch me and my brother sat on, which maked this route:Client -> Switch -> Firewall -> Switch -> Mediaconverter.Believe it or not this f*cking worked.I couldn't believe it, everything worked before they made the mediaconverter swap and after ONE computer didn't work with full TCP upload (mine with Gigabyte MB and RealTek Gbit nic) and here I was thinking It was Vistas fault. I'm not 100% Vista will get as good values as XP but I sure hope it will.Who to blame ? Well I don't know. I hope this amused some guys out there, this must be TOP 100 strangest problems out there, no kidding.Well im off to re-install Vista again, whish me luck UPDATE:Works good in Vista to, but uploas is slightly "unstable" compared to download.
